Muwanga Kivumbi, the National Unity Platform’s Deputy President for Buganda and former Butambala County MP, was granted Shs3 million cash bail by the Butambala court on September 29, 2026. His release follows a combined period of approximately 250 days in custody since his first arrest after the January elections.
His journey included an earlier grant of bail in July, followed by his re-arrest in Mpigi and further detention on fresh charges of inciting violence and managing an unlawful society. Kivumbi has denied the charges.
