I finally made it to Austin, Texas, and there was only one bloke I had to call\u2026 Joshua Weissman.<\/p>\n
Josh knows his food, especially Texas BBQ, so I let him take me through the full experience at LeRoy and Lewis BBQ. No shortcuts, no special treatment, just lining up like everyone else and ordering an absolutely ridiculous spread.<\/p>\n
We got stuck into fatty brisket, smoked beef cheek, flat iron steak, jalape\u00f1o cheddar sausage, one of the best burgers I\u2019ve ever had, the famous Texas Fold, Frito pie, cornbread, onion rings, banana pudding, cheddar cheesecake and pretty much everything else on the menu.<\/p>\n
Josh broke down what makes proper Texas barbecue so special, why the beef cheek is unreal, how they get that bark and smoke flavour, and why this place is doing things a little differently to the classic big-name BBQ spots.<\/p>\n
I also compare it to Terry Black\u2019s, talk about how I can still make weight while eating like this, and get completely stitched up when dessert comes out after I thought we were done.<\/p>\n
Massive thanks to Josh for showing me what real Austin BBQ is all about. This was one of the best food experiences I\u2019ve had.<\/p>\n
